Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 12, 2026
HanziLens (“we”, “us”) helps you read Chinese text on your screen by capturing a region of an image and returning a translation and breakdown. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions: hanzilens@modiprompt.pro.
Information we collect
- Account information. The email address you use to sign in.
- Captured content. When you snip a region, share a screen or window, or type/paste Chinese text, that cropped image, captured screen frame, or text is sent to our service to be analyzed. We do not store it after the analysis is generated unless you choose to save the result. Note that screen and window sharing can incidentally include other on-screen content — only the region you drag over is sent.
- Saved items. The breakdowns you explicitly save (the original text, pinyin, translation, the structured analysis, and the source page URL).
- Usage data. A per-day count of captures, used to enforce the free-tier daily limit.
- Payment information. If you subscribe, payment is handled by Gumroad. We never receive or store your full card details — only your subscription status and Gumroad identifiers.
How captured content is processed
To produce a breakdown, the cropped image, captured screen frame, or text you submit — and your questions to the in-app tutor (“Ask Lenzi”) — are sent to our large-language-model provider (OpenRouter, routing to a vision or text model) solely to generate that single response. We do not store the input after processing, nor do we use it to train our own models. The third-party model provider processes it under its own terms, which — particularly on free model tiers — may include retaining or training on the inputs submitted, so avoid capturing sensitive or confidential content. Only if you press “Save to collection” do we persist the resulting text and analysis to your account.
How we use your information
- To provide the core feature: turning a snip into a translation and breakdown.
- To store the items you choose to save and show them in your dashboard.
- To enforce free-tier limits and manage Pro subscriptions.
- To send essential account emails and, if you join, waitlist emails — and, unless you turn them off in Settings, product emails tied to your own activity (a streak-at-risk reminder, a weekly progress recap). These are transactional/product notices about your account, not marketing, but every one includes a one-click unsubscribe.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of processors to run HanziLens:
- Supabase — authentication and database.
- Cloudflare — hosting of our website and API.
- OpenRouter — vision/LLM processing of captured images.
- Gumroad — payments and subscription management (merchant of record).
- Resend — transactional and waitlist email.
Cookies
We use cookies only to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Data retention
Saved items remain until you delete them or close your account. Daily usage counts are kept only as long as needed to enforce limits. Captured images that you do not save are not retained after processing.
Your rights
You can view and delete your saved items from your library at any time. You can also delete your account and all associated data yourself, instantly, from Settings — or email hanzilens@modiprompt.pro and we will action it within 30 days.
Children
HanziLens is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, by email.
