Unlimited voice conversations with a companion who remembers you

Speak Chinese
without the fear.

Lenzi is who you practice with — out loud, every day, at exactly your level. She never judges, never gets impatient, never has anywhere else to be, and she remembers what you told her last time.

Read fluently but go quiet when it's your turn? Start there. Know no Chinese at all? She'll meet you in your own language and hand you the Chinese one piece at a time.

Try it — your first conversation with Lenzi

Pick who you're talking to, then tap a reply and hear her answer in a real voice — no sign-up, no mic, however broken is fine.

30-day refund, no questions

For everyone who has something to say in Chinese and nowhere safe to say it.

Built by a learner who could follow a whole drama and still froze ordering lunch — so I made someone safe to practice on.

The difference

She actually knows you.

Every other app hands you the same textbook dialogue it hands everyone. Lenzi starts from four questions about your life, remembers every conversation after that, and speaks to you in whichever mix of languages you can actually follow today.

She remembers

What you tell Lenzi while you're talking becomes something she keeps — the people in your life, what you love, the sound you can never quite land, the day you finally got a whole sentence out. Next session she picks the thread back up.

What Lenzi remembers

Example

This panel is on your Profile — every row deletable.

  • factPartner's family is from Chengdu — visits them at New Year2d ago
  • interestWatches wuxia dramas; brought up 江湖 twice unprompted2d ago
  • struggleThird tone keeps flattening on 你好 and 很好4d ago
  • milestoneFirst full sentence without switching to English6d ago
Next session, a week later
回来了!成都那边怎么样?
huílái le! chéngdū nàbiān zěnmeyàng? — “You're back! How was Chengdu?”

You never told her twice. She opened with it — the way a friend would: in passing, not as a report.

It's yours, and it's reversible: every memory is listed on your Profile, and you can delete any single one — for good — without ending the conversation.

And you choose who she is

Six characters, switchable any time from Settings — you met all six in the conversation up top. Switching changes the personality completely and resets nothing: everything she remembers about you comes with her into the new voice.

The same slip, three different characters

我很好看。
you · you meant “I'm doing well” — you said “I'm good-looking”
Warm Bestie

哈哈,你是说「我很好」吧?好,那今天过得怎么样?

"Haha — you mean wǒ hěn hǎo, right? Good. So how was today?"

Roast Master

谦虚一点!你刚说的是「我很好看」。好看是真好看,但你想说的是「我很好」。

"Modest, much? You just said I'm good-looking. Which, fine, true — but you meant wǒ hěn hǎo."

Strict Coach

不对。好看 = good-looking。你要的是「我很好」。再说一次。

"Wrong. hǎokàn = good-looking. You want wǒ hěn hǎo. Say it again."

Same mistake, same memory of you, three completely different people to be corrected by. Blunt Tutor, Chill Bilingual Friend, Old Soul, Hype Squad round out the six. Shown: Warm Bestie, Roast Master, Strict Coach.

One line is not up for negotiation, in any character: Roast Master roasts the mistake — never you. Not your accent, not your intelligence, not your worth. That boundary is written into the product and tested, not left to the model's mood.

In a language you can follow — until you don't need it

A wall of Mandarin at a beginner isn't immersion, it's noise. Lenzi works the way a bilingual teacher does: she starts in the language you already have and withdraws it as you grow. One question sets your rung, and you can move it whenever you like.

  1. Brand newMostly your language

She talks to you in your language and hands you one usable Chinese phrase at a time — always saying what it means, never assuming you can read hanzi.

  2. Know some wordsAbout half and half

Chinese for the everyday things you have already met; your language for anything new, and to check you followed.

  3. Simple sentencesChinese first

She leads in simple Chinese and drops into your language only when you are stuck — then goes straight back in the same breath.

  4. I read better than I speakChinese, mostly

Chinese throughout, with a short clause in your language on the rare turn you lose the thread.

  5. ConversationalChinese only

No scaffolding left. Just the conversation.

Whichever language is yours

The bridge is your own language, not English by default — all 31 of them, the same list every breakdown uses. Coming to Chinese from Spanish, Vietnamese, or Korean works exactly the same way.

Already a Chinese speaker brushing up? Then there's no bridge to build, and she stays in Chinese from the first word.

Answer the four questions →

One tap, and you're talking

Not a lesson. Not an exercise. A short conversation you can walk away from whenever you like.

Tap once to start the call

No button to hold down. Lenzi listens, and the moment you stop she takes her turn — then the mic reopens on its own. Hanging up is the only other control. (Prefer press-and-hold? It is one toggle away, and Space works too.)

She answers out loud

Short, natural Mandarin in a real neural voice, pitched at your level and mixed with your own language as far up the ladder as you need. Say it wrong and the right form comes back woven into her reply — never a red pen, never a score.

What you fumbled becomes study

Tap any Chinese phrase in the thread to hear it again, as many times as you need. Ask her to explain anything in your own language. Words you save go straight into spaced-repetition review.

In a call — mic open, nobody waiting
我昨天…嗯…看电影,很好。
you · said out loud
你昨天看了一部电影?太好了!什么电影
Lenzi · spoken aloud — tap any phrase to hear it again

Notice what didn't happen: no red pen, no score, no timer. You reached for “看了” and missed — the right form simply came back inside her reply, and the conversation kept moving.

Plain about the plumbing: your microphone goes through your browser's own speech recognition — in Chrome, that means Google processes the audio — and Lenzi's replies are generated and spoken in the cloud.

Six ordinary moments

Not textbook dialogues — the rooms you actually go quiet in. Which ones you get depends on how you answer those four questions.

Built only for Chinese

Not “40 languages, one engine.” Tones, hanzi, pinyin, stroke order, and a review loop built from the words you meet — in conversation and everywhere else.

Spaced repetition flashcards

SM-2-style scheduling surfaces sentences right before you'd forget them. Toggle cloze mode for active recall — the key word is masked, you produce it.

Re-encounter tracking

HanziLens counts every word across everything you save. When one keeps turning up in your life, that's the word worth drilling.

报仇×4 captures
江湖×7 captures
师父×3 captures

A tutor on every sentence

Open a chat on any saved sentence and ask about the grammar, a tricky character, or more examples — the tutor already has the full breakdown as context. Stroke-order practice sits on the same card.

Why 雪 here?
雪 means "to wipe clean" — a classical usage meaning to cleanse the shame of a grievance.

Bonus: snip Chinese from anything you watch

The companion Chrome extension turns any Chinese on your screen — movie subtitles, manga, a desktop app — into a full breakdown you can save. Captures become flashcards, and things Lenzi can bring up with you later.

Snip this tab

Press Alt+Shift+S or click the extension. Drag a box over any Chinese text — bilibili, web manga, any site.

报仇雪恨
bào chóu xuě hèn
To take revenge and wipe out a grievance
报仇bào chóu — to take revenge
雪恨xuě hèn — to wipe out a grievance

Capture a screen or app

Share a window or a monitor, freeze a moving subtitle, drag-crop. Reaches desktop apps and sidesteps most DRM restrictions that black out a plain tab snip — and when hardware-protected video still won't read, it says so instead of failing quietly.

Questions, answered honestly

Can I practice speaking?

Yes — that's the point of Pro. One tap starts a call: you speak Mandarin out loud, Lenzi answers in a natural neural voice with short, everyday replies, and the mic reopens on its own when she's done. Mistakes come back gently rephrased instead of red-penned. Nobody is waiting on you, nobody is judging, and you can hang up mid-sentence. Prefer to hold a button instead? Push-to-talk is one toggle away. Your mic input uses your browser's speech recognition (in Chrome that's processed by Google), and Lenzi's replies are generated in the cloud.

Is HanziLens free right now?

Yes. The reader and the whole study app are usable today on the free tier: 15 captures a day plus unlimited flashcard review, cloze, practice quizzes, stroke-order writing, collections, and export. No card, nothing to pay.

What does Pro add?

Pro adds the one thing you can't practice alone: daily spoken conversations with Lenzi. It also lifts every limit — unlimited captures, a higher-accuracy AI model, unlimited Ask Lenzi, and a study agent that quizzes you from your own saved words and builds practice sessions. Everything else — the reader, flashcards, stroke practice, stats — stays free for everyone.

What do I need to talk to Lenzi?

A desktop or laptop running Chrome (or another Chromium browser like Edge, Brave or Arc). Pro's spoken conversations use your browser's built-in speech recognition, which Safari and Firefox don't support — and there's no mobile app yet, so phones and tablets can't hold a call either. Everything else works everywhere: the reader, flashcards, practice, stroke order, and text chat with Lenzi are all fine on any modern browser, phones included. If you open the call screen somewhere it can't run, it tells you plainly instead of failing silently.

Does it work on Netflix and Disney+?

Usually — with the right mode. A normal tab snip comes back black on DRM-protected video (the browser blocks it; that's not us). Use "Capture a screen or app" instead: share the window, freeze the frame, and crop — that reads most protected players. A small amount of hardware-protected content can still show black, and the extension tells you when that happens instead of failing silently.

What languages can the breakdown be in?

31 languages — English, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and more. Pick yours once; every breakdown and the AI tutor use it.

Do you store what I snip?

No. The cropped image is analyzed and discarded — it's only kept if you press "Save to collection", and then it's the text and breakdown that's saved, not the image. Our AI provider processes each snip only to generate that one result (see the privacy policy for details). The extension runs nothing on a page until you start a snip.
