You never told her twice. She opened with it — the way a friend would: in passing, not as a report.
It's yours, and it's reversible: every memory is listed on your Profile, and you can delete any single one — for good — without ending the conversation.
And you choose who she is
Six characters, switchable any time from Settings — you met all six in the conversation up top. Switching changes the personality completely and resets nothing: everything she remembers about you comes with her into the new voice.
The same slip, three different characters
哈哈，你是说「我很好」吧？好，那今天过得怎么样？
"Haha — you mean wǒ hěn hǎo, right? Good. So how was today?"
谦虚一点！你刚说的是「我很好看」。好看是真好看，但你想说的是「我很好」。
"Modest, much? You just said I'm good-looking. Which, fine, true — but you meant wǒ hěn hǎo."
不对。好看 = good-looking。你要的是「我很好」。再说一次。
"Wrong. hǎokàn = good-looking. You want wǒ hěn hǎo. Say it again."

One line is not up for negotiation, in any character: Roast Master roasts the mistake — never you. Not your accent, not your intelligence, not your worth. That boundary is written into the product and tested, not left to the model's mood.
In a language you can follow — until you don't need it
A wall of Mandarin at a beginner isn't immersion, it's noise. Lenzi works the way a bilingual teacher does: she starts in the language you already have and withdraws it as you grow. One question sets your rung, and you can move it whenever you like.

The bridge is your own language, not English by default — all 31 of them, the same list every breakdown uses. Coming to Chinese from Spanish, Vietnamese, or Korean works exactly the same way.

Short, natural Mandarin in a real neural voice, pitched at your level and mixed with your own language as far up the ladder as you need. Say it wrong and the right form comes back woven into her reply — never a red pen, never a score.
What you fumbled becomes study
Tap any Chinese phrase in the thread to hear it again, as many times as you need. Ask her to explain anything in your own language. Words you save go straight into spaced-repetition review.
Notice what didn't happen: no red pen, no score, no timer. You reached for “看了” and missed — the right form simply came back inside her reply, and the conversation kept moving.
Plain about the plumbing: your microphone goes through your browser's own speech recognition — in Chrome, that means Google processes the audio — and Lenzi's replies are generated and spoken in the cloud.

Questions, answered honestly
Can I practice speaking?
Yes — that's the point of Pro. One tap starts a call: you speak Mandarin out loud, Lenzi answers in a natural neural voice with short, everyday replies, and the mic reopens on its own when she's done. Mistakes come back gently rephrased instead of red-penned. Nobody is waiting on you, nobody is judging, and you can hang up mid-sentence. Prefer to hold a button instead? Push-to-talk is one toggle away. Your mic input uses your browser's speech recognition (in Chrome that's processed by Google), and Lenzi's replies are generated in the cloud.
Is HanziLens free right now?
Yes. The reader and the whole study app are usable today on the free tier: 15 captures a day plus unlimited flashcard review, cloze, practice quizzes, stroke-order writing, collections, and export. No card, nothing to pay.
What does Pro add?
Pro adds the one thing you can't practice alone: daily spoken conversations with Lenzi. What do I need to talk to Lenzi?
A desktop or laptop running Chrome (or another Chromium browser like Edge, Brave or Arc). Pro's spoken conversations use your browser's built-in speech recognition, which Safari and Firefox don't support — and there's no mobile app yet, so phones and tablets can't hold a call either. Everything else works everywhere: the reader, flashcards, practice, stroke order, and text chat with Lenzi are all fine on any modern browser, phones included. If you open the call screen somewhere it can't run, it tells you plainly instead of failing silently.
Does it work on Netflix and Disney+?
Usually — with the right mode. A normal tab snip comes back black on DRM-protected video (the browser blocks it; that's not us). Use "Capture a screen or app" instead: share the window, freeze the frame, and crop — that reads most protected players. A small amount of hardware-protected content can still show black, and the extension tells you when that happens instead of failing silently.
What languages can the breakdown be in?
31 languages — English, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and more. Pick yours once; every breakdown and the AI tutor use it.
Do you store what I snip?
No. The cropped image is analyzed and discarded — it's only kept if you press "Save to collection", and then it's the text and breakdown that's saved, not the image. Our AI provider processes each snip only to generate that one result (see the privacy policy for details). The extension runs nothing on a page until you start a snip.
